August 09 - what a crazy month!!!!

Dear Friends,

"Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Thess 1.2)
May the Lord bless you and keep you all well!

This is my first time writing a blog. I am not an expert, but I'll do my best. I'll write updates once a month, sharing with you what the Lord has done, what He is doing and what He is going to do in Peru.

Things the Lord has done this month (August)

As I mentioned on my title, August was a CRAZY month! And I really mean it! in a good way of course! :) I love keeping myself busy and I can tell my Lord wants me to be busy as well!!!

Well, as many fo you know, I love hosting teams and organizing their mission trips. It's a passion the Lord has given me. Sometimes I think of myself as a bridge between cultures, mainly between Peruvian and American culture. Perhaps that’s why the Lord allowed me to live close to 3 years in the USA. This is why the Lord keep on sending teams from the USA, I love helping and serving them, it’s always an honor!

By the end of July I had 2 teams working in different parts of Lima. The first one form Dallas, USA - Prince of Peace (POP), Lutheran Church - Dearly friends of mine! And YWAM (Youth With a Misson) Bolivia - Kings kids - a small group of 6. Both of them stayed until the first week of August. I've never lead two teams as the same time, so this was a great challenge.

I needed to stayed with POP church because they were a larger group and I was helping leading the team. We had such a great time! Waking up early in the morning and staying up late at night sharing what the Lord did that day! it was a great time of fellowship.

For those of my friends that never heard of POP, let me share with you in a few lines who they are. The first time I worked with them was close to 5 years ago and my heart attached to many of their members! Dear brother and sisters that The Lord has used to changed, challenge, blessed and guide my life. There is so much to tell about them, but I will do it later on. I want to keep my blog on what happened this month.

As I was leading the POP team, I was always thinking and praying for the YWAM Bolivia team. I was with them the first couple days and the very last day. They worked with Church Filadelfia in Huaycan, with Pastor Manuel. They actually went deep in the highlands of Peru, about 8 hrs on a bus, to preached and distributed medicine to Pastor's Manuel home town. YWAM Bolivia stayed in Peru until August 5th.

On the other hand, working with POP was a great challenge, because we were close to 25 people, counting translators. But our good Lord Jesus helped us every day and guided us in what we needed to do! During the almost 10 days that they stayed in Huaycan we: (1) visited an orphanage (El Nino Emanuel) and held a 3 days retreat for the orphans, where we had close discipleship, times of praying, playing and sharing Gods love with them. We also bought each one of them new shoes! (2) we worked with Filadelfia Church, we held a leaders conference and took them out to do food distribution to the neighbors.

I have to confess though; I was extremely tired at the end of this trip. However I only had 2 days before the seminary start! I was running here, running there, getting all the paper work together, making all the payments! And by next wensday (August 12th) I was at my first Theology class!
Materia Prima, por que los peruanos somos calidad de exportación. “Raw Material” for the Peruvians are export quality.

There is so much to tell you! But I feel like I’ve wrote a lot all ready! However, I must share with you this amazing retreat we had by the end of August! It was called “Raw Material” for the Peruvians are export quality. This was a Gods dream given to my sister, Anita. I had the honor to serve under her and helped leading this event. This was a weekend retreat, mainly for seniors high schools students and older, where we taught them: (1) How to listen God’s voice, (2) Evangelism, (3) Dances, (4) Dramas, (5) Breaking the “poverty mentality” (6) Identity as Peruvians, (6) Missions. But above all we wanted them to REALLY know God, in a deeper and different way. And they did! God changed their hearts!

We had 20 young people coming to our 3 days retreat, kids from different parts of Lima. On the last day (Sunday) we took them to a park to do what they’ve learned. We had 2 dances and 1 drama. Many people came to the Lord!!!

I am always amazed when I see young people wanting to serve Jesus! To see their faces in adoration saying YES! Yes Jesus! I’ll do as you ask! I love you, send me!!! What a great honor to serve them and what a privilege to see a great army! An army that will impact and change this world for the Glory of our Father! Amen!

What is the Lord doing now?

Well, this week has been a hard one! I had an idea about seminary, however I never thought I was going to be so many hrs reading and meditating on God’s word! I have to tell you that it is a LOT of work! A lot of assignments and projects! But is all worth it! I am learning so much! And can’t wait to put it into practice in my ministry!

Currently I am taking 4 classes a week :) I am studying (1) Theology (2) The Books of Acts (3) Introduction to the New Testament (3) Homeletica (don’t know the translation, sorry)

I’ve made new friends, most of them pastors! Therefore I have new contacts! New places to visit and take teams! Great!!! :)

What is the Lord going to do?

Well, this month is going so fast!!! However, there is still a lot of work to be done! I am going this Monday to Huaycan(September 7th), to visit the orphanage and bring chicken dinner!! (Pollo a la brasa con papas fritas hummm…. Chicken brasa with tons of french fries!!!) Thanks to POP donations!

Also I’ll be meeting several pastors in the area to coordinate a small medical outreach. We are planning on having a small team from YWAM Pittsburgh. They will bring one doctor and 2 pastors, for September 17th. However, my church (Christian Missionary Alliance) will provided more doctors to helped us through the week. We’ll have 2 dentist, 3 nurses, one pediatrician and one general doctor. Our schedule will be:

September 19 – Working with CMA San Miguel
September 20 – Working in Huaycan – Filadelfia Church
September 21 – Working in Huaycan - Cristo Rey y Señor church
September 22 – Working in Huaycan - Orphanage “El Niño Emanuel”
September 23 to 25 – Working with YWAM Lima in Carabyallo.

As you know, my sister Anita is on staff with YWAM Lima, and she is in charge of setting up and hosting all the YWAM teams that comes to Peru. Even though I am not at YWAM staff, I am still YWAM’er, close friend and coworker with YWAM Lima. That’s why; my sister and I are setting up this event.

Currently I am serving under Grace Life Church, a great family that the Lord has allowed me to join. I think of you (GLC) as a great and large family! I love you all and hope to see you (if Gods will) on December this year! – I really hope God will open the doors to see you all again –

Personal Thoughts:

I am really excited to see God moving among Peruvians! I believe is Peru time! Time for us to go and fulfill the great commission! God has equipped us with the faith to believe and trust that He will supply our needs as we serve and love him! There is no doubt in my heart that the Lord has a great and special plan for us! It is an honor for me to stay in Peru, as long as my Lord asks me to, and serve among my people!

I want to thank you all for your love, care, support and friendship!

One of the reasons why I am creating this blog is because I want to you to feel part of what God is doing here! Because each one of you, in one way or another, has impact and blessed my life, helping to created the man I am becoming: a follower and disciple of Christ.

My deepest desire is that you will know Christ; that your relationship with him will grow beyond what you could ever imagine! That you will know him as a Merciful God! Full of compassion and Love!! He does have a great plan for your life. A destiny that can only be fulfill BY you! Only you! No one else can do the work he has prepared for you! I challenge you to walk on that destiny! Trust and love Him with all your heart, mind and soul!

I love you all! And hope to hear from you soon! If you may, please leave a comment and ways I can improve my blog! Thank you!
